Turning "Lemon" into "Lemonade"

Lemon is "sour" in taste and can hurt your teeth and your stomach, But lemonade is "sweet", "refreshing" and "very pleasant" specially in summer. Many other things in life can fall in this "lemon vs. lemonade" comparison.  We all have our down times, failures, disappointments, and this is quite normal in the way things happen and develop in life.

Some people manage to convince themselves not to see these negative things at all. Others just see these negative things and cannot see the good things in life, while the majority usually tends to see both sides as in the "half-full/half-empty" glass model.

Let me pick those who keep complaining and nagging about criticizing bad/wrong things in life.
  • First and above everything else, I am NOT trying to silence these people or convince them not talk about bad.wrong things in life.  On the contrary, I would like to encourage them to be upfront and bring such things to the attention of those who need to know about it and/or those who can possibly do something about it.
  • However, for your criticism to be effective and produce the results you would like to see, you must turn the "negative" talk into "positive" talk and see how you can possibly turn the "sour" lemon into "sweet" lemonade.  If you cannot do that yourself, you can at least give the recipe how to do it and what does it take to do it; water, sugar, ice, apple slices, fresh ment leaves, nice glass jug , .. etc
  • Back to dealing with bad/wrong things in life including problems/issues in the way we are doing things or in the environment/circumstances we live in. Here is what you can do
    • Problem Statement:  brief description what the problem is about
    • Impact Statement:  how is this problem affecting(negatively)
    • Analysis Statement: in your view, what is causing this problem and how
    • Solution Proposal:  What is needed to fix the problem
  • While doing the above 4-element "positive" criticism, try not to over-do things. You are not expected to be totally correct, accurate, detailed and comprehensive all at the same time.
  • If some of your analysis is not complete or not accurate, do not feel bad about it. This is why there would be follow-on work to rectify these shortcomings
I am not a prophet, magician, or future teller. I do not claim any authority of decision on these things. But I can assure everyone that as long as the homework you do makes sense, and as long as what you say is supported by facts, figures and numbers, then it would be very stupid for not listening to what you are saying and giving it full attention, even get rewarded for it.

This is lemon turning into lemonade !
